Duane is with the Lord – December 28,2008

This morning at about 6:00am, surrounded by family and friends, Duane Kraaikamp went to be with the Lord.  He fought hard for many months against the cancer in his body, as we all fought in prayer on his behalf.  The Lord has brought about his deliverance, not through physical healing, but through taking him to heaven, where cancer is no more.

I do not have any funeral details yet but will post them as soon as they are confirmed. The best way you can help at this moment is to keep praying for Crystal and the boys, Morgan, Liam, Vaughn and Avery. Jeannie Houghton in our church has been organizing meals for them and if you would like to help in this way you can give her a call (please email me if you need her number).

Also, there are no specifics yet, but I expect we will set up some kind of trust fund/account at a local bank, for anyone who would like to make a financial gift to the Kraaikamps. Again, I will post details when they are available.

Thank you for all of your prayers and support for all of these months. The Body of Christ has operated the way it is supposed to operate, and while this is a difficult time, it is encouraging to see how the Lord has worked in the midst of His people.

Here is a passage of Scripture that speaks of the hope we have in the Lord at a time like this:

For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. [54] When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:
“Death is swallowed up in victory.”
[55] “O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?”
[56] The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. [57] But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
[58] Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

1 Corinthians 15:53-58 (ESV)

  1. I am sure you are very tired Tim and I wanted to let you know that the church service this morning was beauitful…thanks.

  2. Our prayers are with Crystal and her precious boys.

  3. Oh no! I just saw on FB that Duane had passed away & I’m very sad. 😦 We’re coming down tomorrow & I had hoped we could visit him! Maybe we can make it to the funeral.

  4. We are praying for Crystal and family. Praise God – so many church family members are close by to give physical and emotional support at this very difficult time.
