Praise and Prayer for Duane Kraaikamp

Praise God that a suitable liver has been found for Duane and he is scheduled for a transplant tomorrow (Monday, November 10th) in Edmonton. It is significant surgery, expected to take anywhere between 6-12 hours to complete.

Please pray for a successful liver transplant operation for Duane, and please pray for Crystal and the four boys as they prepare for the long recovery ahead.

It has been a difficult six-month-plus journey for Duane and for our whole church. In April, Duane had his gall bladder removed. He did not recover from it as expected, and within a month or so, it appeared he had pancreatic cancer. After much prayer and further investigation, there was no trace of cancer, but he continued to be in poor health, spending many of the past several months in hospital, with a focus on his liver. We don’t understand all that has happened, but we are trusting the Lord for His healing touch on Duane, believing that we have already seen God’s hand in the disappearance of the apparent cancer. There is expected to be a long recovery ahead for him, and we will continue to walk alongside Duane and Crystal, trusting the Lord every step of the way.

Here is a prayer for Duane and for his family. Please join with me in praying:

“Dear Heavenly Father,

We praise You as the Holy and Sovereign God of all things. We thank You for every breath you give us, that we may live for Your glory on this earth.

We humbly ask for Your healing touch on Duane, as he goes into this surgery tomorrow. We pray for steady hands and sharp minds for the doctors and medical team who will perform the transplant. We pray for Your perfect peace in Duane’s heart as he prepares for surgery. We pray for strength in his body and spirit as he undergoes the surgery.

We thank You for giving us medical science with knowledge of such things as a liver transplant, and for a medical system that provides access to medical specialists to perform such surgery.  In thanking You for the privilege we have to access modern medicine, we gratefully acknowledge You as the Source of all knowledge and the Provider of all healing.

We entrust Duane to Your care tomorrow and every day, even as we ourselves all rest in Your care. We pray also for his family, for his wife Crystal, for the four boys, and for many relatives, that You may comfort and encourage them even as they support Duane.

We thank You in all circumstances, even in circumstances like this that we would never choose to go through. We thank You for the comfort we have already received and we look forward to Your continued work in Duane and in all of us.

We pray this blessing on Duane in the Name of Jesus,

The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

We praise Your Holy Name!

In Jesus Name,

Amen”
